Winter Covers Tips

Massimo's Tips - Winter Pool Covers

  • Choose a blackout cover that is also treated to resist chlorine and pool chemicals;
  • When opening, wash and dry it thoroughly before storing it for the summer;
  • Check the "tension" of the elastic bands. The cover can touch the pool water; In addition to the pegs, there may be retractable pins to be inserted into the paving;
  • For large covers (over 4x8) with perimeter tanks and without drainage, provide a tarpaulin emptying pump to avoid excessive accumulation of rainwater on the tarpaulin which can lead to the tarpaulin breaking and the pool emptying due to weight.
  • Once the winter closing treatment has been carried out, lower the water level. Below the skimmers or just below the edge in infinity pools;
  • Position the sheet over the water, taking care not to let in debris;
  • Adhere the sheet to the surface of the water;
  • Position the tanks along the perimeter of the pool;
  • If the pool is an infinity pool, if possible, remove the grids and place the tanks inside the water collection channel;
  • Fill the tanks;
  • Position the winter tarpaulin emptying pump. The emptying pump keeps the tarpaulin dry, avoiding the formation of the classic "swimming pool above the swimming pool" and also preventing the tarpaulin from falling into the pool.
